It’s pretty safe to say that it’s getting quite full in my Greenhouse now…
The tomato plants are still growing at a silly rate, with all the re-potting I did there is hardly any room left on the shelves.
They’d already assaulted my First Born 🙁
I thought it was great having a little Chilli Army, I love all my plants (OK, some more than others but I don’t tell them that!) and really don’t want to have to start thinking about losing any, in whatever way.
But it is getting more than a little crowded.
The tomato plants have literally grown as tall as they can go for the most part, some of them are even beginning to push against the roof as you can see on the right?
My Bell Pepper plant and my Chenzo Chilli plant couldn’t live on the shelves, they’d both gotten too big to keep up there, again touch the sides and generally getting heavier.
So, what’s a guy to do?
Buy another Greenhouse!
So, off to Birkacre Garden Centre again for this little thing.
It’s different to my other, that’s a walk in one with rigid shelves, this is a lot smaller but has shelves I can take out as I see fit.
Should be handy!
It’s also got a better cover on it, the other one is starting to look a little ragged around the door now where it’s weakest, little holes I’ve patched up with sellotape. This is a lot more rigid so hopefully the same won’t happen again.
On with the build!
Never mind. Builds in minutes… Allegedly.
And what do you know? – It did!
Really, no time at all – No messing around like the last one, just all came together.
No messing about trying to get square pegs in to round holes, no mistakes made with putting the connectors in the wrong place.
Really couldn’t go wrong.
Of course, this is a much smaller one but I think overall the quality is better as well, it just feels, better.
Get what you pay for I guess.
Shall remember that!
Also like this idea of tiers as well, being able to remove them would be really handy as and when plants started to grow.
I’d no more metal steps lying around so had to get inventive with how to make sure this one didn’t blow away in the wind. My wife had some weights that she’s not using in the garage, so, I combined those with some slate we had in the garage and some good old fashioned string.
Seems sturdy enough.
Just one problem then…
Seems the first two floors where taken up already.
I’d either not realised how tall my plants had got, or I hadn’t realised how small the new Greenhouse was 🙁
Realistically I couldn’t think about putting the shelf on that could go above these as I knew these plants weren’t done growing.
So had to leave it at this. Not ideal, not what I wanted either to be honest, but it is what it is.
The top shelf became home to some my smaller plants. At this point I don’t think these are going to get much taller. Part of me knows what these probably won’t do anything now, but, keeping them all the same. I’m still only a couple of months into this Gardening business. What do I know? :-/
Still, I do have another problem…
I’d also treated myself to another plant while I was there.
This one by the intriguing name of Masquerade.
And look PURPLE CHILLIES!
PURPLE!
Sadly, it looked like Birkacre didn’t employ the same methodology I was applying to my plants and turning them round for the sun so it’d gotten a little unbalanced 🙁
The Chillies are gorgeous though. They start life green, then go purple, then yellow before finally settling on being red like other chillies. Love this!
Picked up this bad boy as well.
This little beauty goes by the name of Demon Red, it looks in better health than the Masqurade plant, and lots of fresh new flowers.
It looks a bit like the Orange Wonder plant. Kind of like a fountain exploding from the soil.
With a name like Demon Red I’m expecting these to be kind of hot. As none are actually red though, I can’t find out :/
So, that was it – My new growing area of the garden. Exciting times!
Just hope that was it for this year. Going to get expensive if I need a new greenhouse every few months :/
